A Custom Sock Tale

A groom shows his sock to his surprised bride and their wedding party

Reid Beloni surprised his bride and their guests with custom DeFeet socks.

“In 2005, I rode for a team run by Chris Harkey. One day during a training camp at Harkey’s house, I saw a pair of framed DeFeet socks on the basement wall. Harkey had made them as wedding favors, and the idea stuck with me.
14 years later my fiancée Nina and I were planning our wedding, and we decided to skip the wedding favors that inevitably end up in the trash. But then I remembered Chris's socks, so I decided to have custom socks made and surprise Nina.

I worked with the DeFeet art team to design a sock that included our nickname "ReNa" and the wedding date on the sole (insert cheesy love and soul joke), and of course our dog Mango. Socks showed up just days before the wedding, and I hid them until the big day. All of the groomsmen put them on and then, during the wedding party shoot, I revealed the socks to her.  She had no idea! We gave out custom socks to over 100 guests.

It went over really well, I think people liked having something functional that they could hang on to.  And actually the reception venue had a “no heels” policy because of the hardwood floors, so most of the ladies spent the night dancing in dog socks!"
