Hildebran, NC, January 28, 2020 - DeFeet is announcing a special fundraising project in an effort to send aid to WIRES, an organization helping Australian wildlife survive the torrent of wildfires burning in the country. The DeFeet Custom Shop created the special socks, adorned with Australian colors and various animal species on it, and has made them available at this link: https://defeet.com/collections/bespoke/products/australia-benefit-aireator-6 DeFeet is donating all proceeds from the sale of the socks to the organization. WIRES website is https://www.wires.org.au/.
The catastrophic fires come during a time of record drought and high temperatures. More than 1 billion animals are at risk now from these events. “This is a way for people to donate to an important cause and also help raise awareness, themselves.” said Shane Cooper, DeFeet Founder and Chief Sockologist. The WIRES socks are made from recycled plastic water bottles with yarns sourced local to DeFeet in North Carolina, USA.
Those who fund the project will receive the DeFeet Aireator® sock, the most popular model from the DeFeet Custom Shop. The sock has been a favorite of the world’s top endurance athletes for nearly three decades, and is finally getting more mainstream attention for casual wear. The Belgian professional cycling team Lotto-Soudal chose to wear the DeFeet WIRES sock during last week’s Tour Down Under, the kickoff race to the professional road cycling season, where the team won four stages. Cooper said “We are starting to see support from people all over the world for this project. People want to be part of a win-win fundraising for great causes, and this is an example of that. Awareness is the key, and we need more people involved.”
Retailers interested in showing support and helping their customers contribute are also able to purchase the socks from the defeetb2b.com portal.
